Sunday April 14th, 12:50 PM: Get dressed and to go meet my friends Matt and Yolanda who are visiting for Salone (ps Yolanda has the best travel substack!!) Weather is currently confusing, so wrapping all of my layers around my waist, which I like as it brings a new drop-waist / 1920’s silhouette to this dress that I wore a lot last summer (and just pulled out of storage).
1:30PM: Beautiful light while walking through San Babila. Notice shadow and take a photo (could be a painting!)
6:44 PM: Get ready to go to the Gucci event. Grab the antique shawl to go over Gucci dress (loaned and breast area very much unlined) while wondering if all the boxes will ever get unpacked.. (heavy moving induced sigh).
8:35 PM: End up at Bar Basso. How does this always happen?
9:53 PM: Thank god i’m home before ten o’clock. I earnestly read about what my dead boyfriend, Vincent, was up to 100 years ago. Tonight he tells his brother Theo about the importance which must be given to the character of chairs when selecting furnishings for a home. I could not agree more. My dead boyfriend and I are often very aligned.
Monday April 15th, 11:52 AM: Start to paint in the poppies after Italian class.
6 PM: Change into one of my favorite old Prada dresses and head into the center of town. Visit Dimore, Ginori, & about 17 other cocktails. Wonder when the city will run out of Prosecco after even my bank invites me to a “Salone cocktail”.
Tuesday April 16th 9:39 AM: Working on something wonderful (new vintage tablecloth arrives and it magically color-palettes with my hard drive).
1:21 PM: Change for friends birthday lunch into my favorite old Marni dress (please share the link if you find, long version here!)
1:30 PM: Delivery men unexpectedly arrive with my vintage bed frame as I’m walking out the door. They leave it outside as it was not “in their instructions” to bring it into the building. I quickly carry it in, piece by piece before running out (late, always late).
7:57 PM: Campari soda color paletting.
9PM: Go to Loewe and Hermes events with girlfriends (and have a fabulous time!)
Wednesday April 17th, 1:21 PM: Leave the house for four days in Venice (this time with TWO tote bags!) Continuing my campaign against rolling suitcases - back issues be damned!!
1:28 PM: Read nasty DM about my outfit from the night before and fantasize about throwing my phone into the sea and installing a rotary telephone.
5:12 PM: My friend Matteo sends me a nice photo from Loewe (in an outfit I bought several seasons ago and happily own BY THE WAY!) Eh hem, soul selling accuser.
5:15 PM: Arrive to Venice and immediately realize (while standing in the cold rain waiting for my water taxi) that everything I brought is way too summery.
7:24 PM: Envy other peoples coats. Buy a 25 euro black shawl in San Marco.
7:45 PM: Got to Breasts show, featuring a very large burrata breast at the opening cocktail, followed by a simple but wonderful easy dinner at Osteria Al Portego with new friend and fabulous chair designer Isabella and her husband.
Thursday April 18th, 1:40 PM: Try on amazing vintage jewelry at Buccellati.
2 PM: Walk around Venice all day, drink too many macchiato’s, see too many great paintings, and wonder…”why the hell don’t I live in Venice?”
6:35 PM: Attend Buccellati exhibition and ogle at the collection of antique purses.
8:38 PM: Prada Christoph Büchel exhibition opening, followed by the incredibly comforting (and warming) combination of Pizza and tea at my fabulous friend Skye McAlpine’s house (she is British, but grew up in Venice, so this combo actually makes a lot of sense plus we were so cold and tired). Ps PLEASE go follow her brand new substack!!! She’s the cookbook QUEEN!
Saturday April 20th, 12:20 PM: Try on the Miu Miu floral halter dress from the new campaign and fall in love in Venice AGAIN (why does this always happen TO ME?!)
1:10 PM: Go to Biennale (for the first time!) So exciting!!
5:15 PM: Visit Palazzo Cavanis to see the Ewa Juszkiewicz show. Wonderful!
6:18 PM: Train back to Milan (with a beautiful sunset and a happy heart!)
xx
Jenny
It's ridiculous that u have to deal with such nasty people sometimes Jenny 😢 I think most people who follow you (me included) love the unique choices and things you wear and put together 😍
You look amazing in everything that you wear, including the Loewe dress--you always wear the clothes, they never wear you, as the saying goes, or something to that effect! You have such a unique knack for styling --it’s so fresh and quirky. ❤️
